Exploring Linear Earthworks across Time and Space – Introducing the ‘Monumentality and Landscape: Linear Earthworks in Britain’ Project

چکیده
Linear earthworks of a monumental character are an enigmatic part the British landscape. Research in Britain suggests that such features range date from early 1st millennium BC to Early Middle Ages. While roles these monuments past societies cannot be understated, they remain relatively under-researched phenomenon. This article introduces Leverhulme Trust-funded ‘Monumentality and Landscape: Earthworks Britain’ project, which aims provide comparative study linear focusing on those dating Iron Age medieval period. contribution reviews our approach shares preliminary results project’s first year, identifying wider implications for earthworks.
